It can no longer be denied that mobile applications are growing more and more popular among businesses. Several companies have adapted mobile application marketing to help increase performance as well as revenues.
The trend is attributed to the growing number of people using mobile phones capable of accessing the World Wide Web. Most of these smart phones like iPhones, Blackberry, Nokia and Samsung enable users to download mobile applications which they can use to make their lives easier because these apps are available on the go. According to some studies, there are about 1 billion smart phone users all over the world and about 80% use their phones to browse the internet while 70% and 60% of them use their phones to download apps and access social networking sites respectively. This behavior led businesses today to tap into this market because it could translate to an increase in sales.
Another important function of mobile application in which businesses can take advantage of is the fact that these mobile apps also increase company performance. Not all mobile apps were made for the convenience of consumer but some apps were made to help increase business productivity. Mobile technology allows companies to have an unprecedented level of connectivity between employees. This is achieved through the use of third party software that employees can download to help them raise their individual performance in the business. Some mobile applications would even allow workers to download applications on their mobile devices that will help them connect with others through social media such as LinkedIn, Facebook and Twitter; or the firm can use native or web-based applications to enable direct communication with these audiences in a variety of ways.
Mobile applications have also led to the development of new products and services. For instance, banking used to be done inside the actual establishment but because mobile technology allows users remote access to applications using their smart phones, banks have developed mobile banking services in which users can make money transfers and other bank transactions using only their mobile phones. This approach helped businesses maintain their relationships with their clients.
Every day businesses are learning more about the ways mobile technology can be used to increase their productivity and lead to increased profitability while it is very clear that mobile technology have provided numerous advantages to both businesses and consumers.
